Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified Machinist for a local manufacturing company in New Braunfels, TX:
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position is to operate metal fabrication equipment, such as a brake press, burn table, shear, drill press, lathe, and stake welder, to create products or structures by cutting, bending, and assembling metal materials and other shop related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Set up and operate machines.
- Utilize blueprints.
- Adjust materials as needed.
- Verify dimensional requirements of material.
- Transfer material to appropriate storage areas.
- Work with unconventional materials and require specialized skills.
- Set up and operate machinery that heats, mills, cuts, forms, drills, broaches or reams metal, plastic, or processed material parts.
- Adjust machinery to established specifications.
- Monitor the running condition of machines; Troubleshoot and correct faulty programming.
- Makes general decisions as to quality, tolerance and operation sequence.
- Always maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Work on semi-routine assignments as assigned.
- Understand and follow company policies, processes, established procedures and work instructions as well as safe working practices; Wear required personal protective equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
- Experience in operating metal fabrication machinery preferred.
- Ability to follow verbal or simple written instructions and procedures.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings and engineering documentation.
- Skill in performing basic reading, mathematical calculations and using precise measuring devices.
- Valid Texas driver’s license required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to understand and operate mechanical systems and various shop machinery/equipment.
- Must be skilled in using devices such as hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to perform detailed repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift and/or carry 20 to 30 lbs. and push or pull at least 50 lbs. or more occasionally and/or frequently.
- Work involves frequent periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning and reaching or bending at the waist.
SHIFT:
Monday - Friday 4:00PM-12:00AM
PAY RATE:
$17-$20/hr. Based on experience
