Job Description

Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified NDE-Level II Inspector for a local manufacturing company in New Braunfels, TX:

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this position is to inspect products and processes in accordance with various codes, standards and specifications to assure compliance with quality requirements and other related duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with hydrostatic or pneumatic pressure proof tests (Interpretation of exam results not required.) and become familiar with set ups and safety requirements.
  • Perform dimensional and workmanship inspections in receiving, in process and final inspection areas using dimensional measuring equipment.
  • Assist in the calibration of dimensional and pressure measuring devices.
  • Monitor the welding operations to assure that welding procedure specifications are followed.
  • Monitor welder performance qualifications to assure that welders are properly qualified to perform the welding assigned.
  • Perform, with supervision, PT NDE Examinations and attain NDE Level II status through classroom and on the job training in accordance with company written practice SQP-601 and SNT-TC-1A.
  • Attend radiation safety classes for RT NDE training.
  • Assist the QC Inspectors, QC Lead, QC Specialist & DQA in the performance of their duties.
  • Escort customer inspectors as they perform their inspections.
  • Ability to inspect expansion joints and related products, with or without supervision.
  • Ability to evaluate quality issues and determine solutions to assure on time shipments.
  • Communication with Production, Engineering, and Customer Service to inform of any issues that might affect shipment or schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED). Prior inspection or nondestructive examination experience in a related industry preferred.

  • Successful qualification in accordance with Standard Quality Procedures SQP-601, SQP-602 or SQP-603.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Skill in performing basic reading and mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to compile and maintain records, logs and organize reports accurately.
  • Skill in effectively listening and communicating verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to use devices such as measurement devices and/or hand tools.
  • Ability to perform detailed repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry 20 to 30 lbs. and push or pull at least 50 lbs. occasionally and/or frequently.
  • Work involves frequent periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning and reaching or bending at the waist.

SHIFT:

Rotating shift – Days/Nights

PAY RATE:

$20-$25/hr. Based on experience
