Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified Submerged Arc Welder for a local manufacturing company in New Braunfels, TX:
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position is to set up and operate ‘arc’ welding machines to weld together parts of fabricated metal products.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Set up arc welding machines, including aligning and adjusting machinery
- Weld materials together as specified by blueprints, layouts, welding procedures, and operating charts
- Select and ensure the correct voltage and power of machines being used
- Visually examine welds for adherence to specifications
- Adjust machine set up according to size, location and penetration of bead
- Reweld defective joints using hand-welding equipment
- Preheat surfaces using a hand torch or heating furnaces
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED). Must pass a hands-on Welding Test to be considered for this position. Welding equipment will be provided.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings and engineering documentation.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Skill in performing basic reading and mathematical calculations.
- Ability to compile and maintain records, logs and organize reports accurately.
- Valid Texas driver’s license required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to perform detailed repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift and/or carry 20 to 30 lbs. and push or pull at least 50 lbs. occasionally and/or frequently.
- Work involves frequent periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning and reaching or bending at the waist.
SHIFT:
Monday – Friday 4:00PM-12:00AM
PAY RATE:
$18-$21/hr. Based on experience
