Job Description

Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified Trade/Export Compliance Specialist for a local manufacturing company in New Braunfels, TX:

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain trade compliance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current rules and regulations as well as assist with risk management, operational efficiency, and cost reduction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Interpret U.S. trade regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, ATF and Customs) and provide necessary guidance to internal customers.
  • Interfacing with Program Managers, internal functions (Human Resources, Supply Chain, Engineering, Shipping, IT, Purchasing, Customer Service, Contracts, Sales/Marketing) and senior leadership to ensure all work processes comply with U.S. Trade regulations.
  • Drafting, submitting and managing export licenses, technical assistance agreements, commodity jurisdiction and classification requests, as required to support business initiatives.
  • Reviewing and approving international shipments, foreign travel, incoming foreign visitors, release of technology and technical data, to ensure compliance with applicable U.S. regulations and Harris policies and procedures.
  • Providing annual trade compliance training.
  • Assisting with internal audits.
  • Reporting violations to Corporate.
  • Drafting voluntary self-disclosures as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED). Bachelor’s degree in international relations, Business Administration or Engineering, 4 years of relevant experience required.

  • Ability to operate computerized accounting and cost programs.
  • Excellent computer and data entry skills – proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • U.S. trade regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC and Customs) with demonstrated prior experience working in a trade compliance role.
  • Use of D-Trade, SNAP-R and ACE.
  • International shipping and Customs procedures.
  • Use of license exemption and exceptions.
  • Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Export classification of goods, services and information and product database management.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface with personnel at all levels, both written and verbally.
  • Exhibits high attention to detail, integrity and discretion.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license required.

  • Work involves frequent periods of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning, pushing/pulling, reaching and bending at the waist.

SHIFT:

Monday – Friday 7:30AM-4:30PM

PAY RATE:

$70-$80k/annual
