Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified CNC Programmer for a local manufacturing company in New Braunfels, Tx:

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this position is to create Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Programs, set up, operate CNC machines and other machine shop equipment to produce parts, hardware, and other products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be able to perform all CNC Operator and CNC set-up job essential job functions and perform all CNC functions as needed and/or directed.
  • Translate design specifications and blueprints into machine-readable code that allows the CNC machine to produce accurate and consistent parts and conducts all CNC operations independently.
  • Read blueprint designs, programs, and set-up; test/debug program on CNC machines.
  • Read and load programs, identify errors, set up machines, and perform program/part offsets.
  • Independently program and set up CNC machines for machining parts for self and others for production cycle from work order or job traveler. Monitor and optimize production.
  • Use appropriate oils/lubricants according to metal and/or machine specifications.
  • Must support the maintenance department with CNC maintenance as needed.
  • Write formulas for programming mills and lathes using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software.
  • Verify machine settings and positioning. Periodically check operator and inspect machinery/equipment to ensure proper and safe operation.
  • Ensure that machine stays perfectly aligned and maintain inventory of cutting tools and raw materials.
  • Help prove new fixtures, new programs, and new CNC machined parts.
  • Identify and propose improvements to programs, part setup, and fixtures; help design new improved tools for better fixturing.
  • Interface with machinists professionally and productively.
  • Prepare and load part holding fixtures and raw material onto the machines for self and others.
  • Load/secure cutting tools and part-holding fixtures; load raw materials into CNC.
  • Machine production or prototype parts using CNC machines, shops, and precision measuring tools.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC machines and all machinery according to print specifications and safety requirements to secure required dimensions and quality on machine production runs.
  • Feed raw materials or parts through semi-automated machines.
  • Produce samples (first piece) for QA inspection; complete the in-process inspection and place the product on hold/containment if needed.
  • Must be able to machine parts to specified tolerances and ensure the quality of parts produced.
  • Report production delays and quality concerns/variances immediately.
  • Independently work from drawings, sketches, patterns, templates, process sheets, samples and written and/or verbal instruction; assist in recordkeeping related to job orders/production.
  • Provide general and technical information related to products.
  • Meet or exceed 85-100% Standard Rate (STD) and support new hire training.
  • Perform non-CNC tasks when needed and repair or rework parts as needed.
  • Operate forklifts, man-lifts and shop machines as needed
  • Maintain appearance standards, presence and professional communication skills.
  • Report building, equipment sanitation, OSHA, and Safety concerns immediately.
  • Responsible for assigned production, efficiency, and productivity to minimize backlog.
  • Begin and end shift on time consistently and report delays immediately.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, quality control, and safety of the work area.
  • Follow established procedures, work instructions, and operational controls.
  • Follow safe working practices and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED). 3 years of experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC machine and machine shop equipment and power tools REQUIRED. One year of experience in a machine shop manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Proficiency in programming, set-up, and operating CNC machines and Fusion 360 software.
  • Attentive to detail, good planning, time management skills and willing to assume a variety of machine shop-related tasks. Knowledge of metal properties preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and advanced skills in operating shop machinery and equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations and using precise measuring devices.
  • Ability to perform detailed repetitive tasks for prolonged periods.
  • Skills in effectively listening and communicating tactfully verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Be willing to work weekend hours, and overtime as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects up to 75 pounds occasionally and/or frequently.
  • Work involves frequent periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning, and reaching and bending at the waist.
  • Visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand-eye coordination, utilizing near and far vision, depth perception, and manual dexterity necessary to work with various materials/objects and operate basic office and machine shop equipment.

SHIFT:

Monday - Thursday 6:00AM-4:30PM

PAY RATE:

$19.80/hr.
