Job Description

Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified Quality Assurance Inspector for a local sheet metal fabrication shop in Seguin, TX:

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this position is to perform quality checks on metal products using various measurement tools such as calipers, angle finders, height gauges, protractors, gauge blocks, and micrometers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilize various measurement tools to provide frequent quality checks on production work and parts supplied.
  • Work with department supervisors and production machine operators to ensure jobs are completed and meet company specialization.
  • Work from samples, drawings, schematics, blueprints and/or written and verbal instructions.
  • Use various measuring devices such as calipers, angle finders, height gages, protractors, gage blocks, and micrometers; Calibrate tools as needed.
  • Maintain and enter required documentation of quality results
  • Follow safe working practices and properly wear personal protective equipment as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED). A minimum of 3 years of QA experience in a manufacturing environment is REQUIRED.

  • Knowledge of how to use various precision measurement tools
  • Experience in full dimensional layout; Ability to read and interpret blueprints (1st and 3rd projections), safety rules, memos, and simple instructions.
  • ISO knowledge, 5S and Lean Manufacturing a plus.
  • Must have knowledge of FMEA’s and Control Plans.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge with Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and frequently push and/or pull over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform detailed repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to withstand frequent periods of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning, reaching and bending at the waist.
  • Ability to withstand extreme noise, mechanical hazards, vibration hazards and moving equipment (i.e. cranes and forklifts) and occasional exposure to outdoor work and electrical hazards.

SHIFT(S):

2nd shift 4:00pm – 2:00am (Mon-Thurs) $18.50/hr.
Weekend Shift – 6:00am – 6:00pm (Fri/Sat/Sun) $20.50/hr.
