Job Description

Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician I for a local sheet metal fabrication shop in Seguin, TX:

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this position is to effectively troubleshoot and make necessary repairs on production machinery and to perform diagnostic troubleshooting on electrical, motors, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC’s, and other mechanical equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and maintain a safety and preventive maintenance program.
  • Service all industrial machinery equipment as required.
  • Maintain and track multiple expenses and supplies.
  • Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and make necessary repairs on mechanical production equipment.
  • Performs diagnostic troubleshooting on electrical, motors, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Make necessary repairs using various systems and machine tools.
  • Follow blueprints, sketches and schematics for the installation of new and/or rebuilt equipment.
  • Welding as needed.
  • Determine and diagnose various issues with machinery.
  • Communicate with employees, superiors and/or outside vendors.
  • Completes required reports and other documentation on assigned work and/or inspections.
  • Use a strong understanding of mechanical components and how they work in conjunction with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Follow safe working practices and properly wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED). Minimum of 1 year mechanical in a manufacturing environment and/or electrical experience maintaining industrial equipment.

  • Hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and electrical work experience required.
  • Familiarity with Punch Press Machines, Brake Press, Express Benders, CNC Machines.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in mechanical and electrical related fields.
  • Good communication, organizational and problem-solving skills; English read, write, speak.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to work in an uncontrolled environment.
  • Ability to understand and work with mechanical systems, machinery, and devices such as hand tools and power tools.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and frequently push and/or pull over 50 pounds.
  • Physically able to perform detailed repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to withstand frequent periods of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning, reaching and bending at the waist.
  • Ability to withstand extreme noise, mechanical hazards, vibration hazards and moving equipment (i.e. cranes and forklifts) and occasional exposure to outdoor work and electrical hazards.
SHIFTS:
  • 1st shift 6:00 am – 4:00pm (Mon-Thurs) $22.00 - $25.00 (40 hours)
  • 2nd shift 4:00pm – 2:00am (Mon-Thurs) $22.00 - $25.00 (40 hours)
  • Weekend Shift – 6:00am – 6:00pm (FRI/SAT/SUN) (36 hours)
  • Must be available on-call 24 hrs.
  • Must be able to work overtime.
