Modern Staffing is seeking a qualified Shop Hand/General Laborer for a local manufacturing company in San Marcos, TX:
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position is to keep the facility in production by performing a variety of job duties such as mixing concrete, cutting metal, heavy lifting, spraying concrete, handling concrete products, and other tasks on the shop floor. This position requires a blend of mechanical knowledge, hands-on skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform activities working with metal and concrete used in manufacturing of playground and splash pad related products.
- Mix concrete.
- Cast concrete using various molds.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform tasks on the shop floor including welding, cutting, grinding metal, laying metal lathe, and mixing concrete
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Use required PPE when needed
- Open to learning new techniques and skills to improve and help on the shop floor.
- Track and record material usage on work orders.
- Learn as much as possible about the different manufacturing processes used.
- Maintain a positive attitude and work well in a team environment.
- A willingness to learn and a good work ethic are essential for this position.
- General cleaning tasks as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED). Previous experience with concrete, construction and metal fabrication preferred.
- Ability to understand and work with various devices such as hand tools and power tools
- Must have great communication skills and organizational skills
- Must have great planning skills and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and build working relationships.
- Must have the willingness to learn and be open to continuous improvement and personal development.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry at least 45 pounds and frequently push and/or pull over 100 pounds.
- Work involves frequent periods of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning, and reaching, bending at the waist and infrequently climbing.
PAY RATE:
$18.00/hr.
